  7. Champalimaud Foundation invites applications for Group Leaders to join a dynamic and highly collaborative international research institute in Lisbon, Portugal.

    Champalimaud Research is seeking to expand the program of Physiology and Cancer. We welcome applicants using either fundamental or translational approaches and encourage applicants from multiple disciplines including, but not limited to, Immunology, Metabolism, Cancer biology, Biological circuits, and Computational biology. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with ambitious research programs that interrogate the cellular and molecular networks underlying tissue health, disease and oncogenesis. Applications are sought from researchers at all levels.

    To promote risk-taking research, generous support for salary, start-up and annual running costs will be provided. Researchers will be based at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, a highly interactive and innovative scientific environment. The Centre’s world-class facilities for clinical and fundamental research include, amongst others, platforms for advanced light microscopy, flow-cytometry, genetic tools, ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging, and facilities for a range of model organisms (Drosophila, Zebrafish and mice).

    The Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown is situated on the waterfront in central Lisbon. English is the official language of the Centre. Lisbon has a sunny Atlantic-Mediterranean climate, vibrant culture, international schools, convenient housing options and is considered one of the world’s safest cities.

    Applications should include a curriculum vitae, brief summary of past accomplishments (max. 2 pages) and future research plans (max. 4 pages), as well as contact details for 3 individuals who can provide recommendation letters upon request.
