    Light Microscopy Imaging Specialist

    The Champalimaud ABBE Platform is one of the largest and youngest imaging facilities in Portugal. It offers 5 advanced imaging systems to circa 170 users per year who annually book more than 10000 hours of instrument time and it plans to grow exponentially in the next 5 years. We are now seeking a highly motivated and service oriented light microscopy imaging specialist who will become part of our team and will support imaging projects mainly in the fields of Cell Biology, and Neurobiology.

    The candidate is expected to:
    a) Support a broad variety of light microscopy imaging projects
    b) Implement and develop new imaging technologies
    c) Maintain and service the current imaging systems
    d) Provide training in light microscopy
    e) Support the users in the first steps of data visualisation and imaging analysis

    We are currently using wide-field microscopy (included automatic slide scanning microscopy and light-sheet microscopy), laser scanning confocal microscopy, extended resolution microscopy.
    Candidates should have a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in biology, engineer, physics, or related subjects and experience in basic and advanced light microscopy.

    Experience with imaging visualisation, 3D reconstruction of large data sets, and imaging analysis with open sources and commercially available softwares is mandatory.

    An excellent command of English together with good communication skills and self-motivation are also required. The candidate should be a proactive, service-oriented team player willing to help scientists with basic and advanced aspects of light microscopy.
